The Sunday Star Times & Grant Smithies say 'Equal of anything that might drift in from NY.London , Paris or Berlin 4/5
Groove Guide says "a bumper crop of NZ Produce...The main course....Dig in...".
Infusion writes "This CD is a great reflection of what is being produced around the country ..."
DJ Genetik is the resident house and breaks DJ at the Phat Club in Nelson. He also has a bi monthly residency @ Mansion in Christchurch called DJ GENEtiK Presents... He is a regular fixture in Bath St in Dunedin. He is producing his own stuff and his first show case tune will be available on Engineered 2 in the middle of 2005. Gene plays fat Techhouse, electro house and stormin breaks and anything else that he can assault the dance floor with. Here we find him launching his own label with his debut mix CD, Engineered. It’s a local affair, with plenty of goodness coming from Nelson and further afar showcasing just how good our local producers are, with tracks coming from Max Maxwell, Cuffy & Leon D, Minuit, Reactor Music, Greg Churchill and Bluey and more. The result is a refreshing mix that will have you smiling and dancing for some time.

MENTAL ILLNESS presents Back In the Community CDR
(0474:8455 Recordings/Date:Bass)
File Under: Electro / Breaks / Dance / NZ Music
MICDR-03
Mental Illness is a subsidiary project of 0474:8455 Recordings (Data:bass), dedicated primarily to turntable/electronic/sequenced music outside of Drum'n Bass, as a repose and an outlet for DBN to provide an opportunity for affiliated producers to showcase the best of their experiments in other genres. The most exciting thing about Mental Illness is the idea of just putting the music out there, no faffing about. With Drum'n Bass, the consistently high standards expected of producers and performers can be stifling creatively, while Mental Illness puts out unique music from our producers that celebrates a whole different set of musical values. Back in the Community features 26 tracks from a diverse range of producers, including Demus (Kingsland Electro), Fats White, Style Over Substance, General Practitioner, Tumor, Audioslut and plenty more.
