Philippa
Philippa started DJing around 6 years ago after finding big inspiration on the deep house dance floors of Wellington.. She moved to Auckland in late '97 and soon after started working at BPM Records... Presently Philippa is a full-time student - currently completing a diploma in Audio Engineering at MAINZ (the Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand) - a division of Tai Poutini Polytechnic.
Milestones so far - has been voted in as Re:mix Magazine's "Best Up and Coming DJ" in 1998, voted in as New Zealand's "Best Up and Coming DJ" in the 2000 b-Net Awards. Mixed a deep house CD for Re:mix magazine at the start of 2000, which over time became one of Re:mix magazine's most in demand CDs ever. Attended the Red Bull Music Academy - was flown to Dublin for this 2 week course in 2000, and...in 2001 began hosting the Friday afternoon Drive on George FM!
And towards the end of 2002 Philippa mixed a CD for us at In Music.
In the meantime, aside from school, Philippa has a full DJing schedule around Auckland every weekend - playing Ink on K Road, Calibre, Coast Bar, Centro, the WBC and Spy Bar regularly, as well as many rocking parties and events.. Philippa also plays around New Zealand on a regular basis, including Wellington, Hamilton, New Plymouth, Christchurch and Dunedin...
What can u expect to hear Philippa spin? Deep, driving and vibing House music. Music with soul, a bit of a bump and a helping of oddball flava..... Geographically speaking she's influenced greatly by the sounds from Chicago and Detroit
